As Seen On Arthur
This spring a family of faithful ARTBEAT enthusiasts was featured
on PBS’s “Arthur,” the famed nationally
syndicated children’s show. As mother and daughters
spread out in ARTBEAT’s Art Studio to create decorated
beeswax candles and mosaics, they personified an “Arthur”
show which is teaching the lesson of how art is an appealing
activity to encourage parent to child camaraderie and bonding.

As
Seen on NiteBeat with Sara Edwards
Even famous entertainment reporters
can repurpose CD ROMs to create colorful wall clocks! Comcast
Cable’s Sara Edwards tried her hand at a “shrinky
CD clock” during a live segment on CN8-TV/Boston. This
project was among a collection of “easy and impressive”
creative art project alternatives to retail gifts. This is
a great project when you consider how many people have unused
or scratched CDs. ARTBEAT has a new “spin” on
reusable materials—and this is one example of transforming
something “old” into something new. |

Art projects also have a medical application which is the
focus of a feature article in a recent issue of ADVANCE, an
industry magazine for occupational therapists. ARTBEAT’s
owner Jan Whitted was interviewed about the merits of using
art to provide dexterity and strength therapy with a relaxing
reward of a creative project.
